So what's the plan?

In general, the plan is to have a ranked ladder system (unofficial of course) for Diablo 3 PvP. Ideally we would have multiple ladders that will vary in both how the ranking/matches are done as well as how many players are on each team. To elaborate we plan have both tournament style ladders where there are seasons, teams sign up before a certain date, and matches are schedule for them. We also want to have ladders where teams can challenge another team. In either event ranking could be based on anything from win/loss ratio, to the number of kills a team gets within the match. Perhaps even amount of damange done in the game can play a role in the ranking. As far as how teams will be made up, we plan to have clan only ladders, as well as ladders where players can create teams of their choosing, regardless of what clan individual members of the team are in. Or possibly just offer a quick signup option for a clan, but also allow custom teams within the same ladder. No final decisions have been made, we don't know enough yet to have set plans yet.

So where is this ladder?

Because of the lack of details for what PvP will be like in Diablo 3, there are just too many uncertainies to develop the ladder system. Once we can start to get some questions answered, then heavy development can begin on the ladder. We need to know more about the mechanics of PvP like: what kind of game types there will be, how scoring will work, if log files/replays will be available, ect.

What do we do in the meantime?

Well in the meantime, I will devote my efforts to other portions of the website. However, while we wait for the necessary details, we can talk about what types of features you would like to see in the ladder. What functionality you liked in previous ladders you have participated in. Feel free to post any suggestions or ideas you have, and just discuss what your looking forward to in Diablo 3 PvP. I can't promise that I will implement all the features that are suggested, but all ideas will be taken into consideration when I outline the features for the initial version of the ladder.
